Sunset at Phnom Bakheng

Phnom Bakheng is a Hindu temple mountain (built on top of a hill). From here, Angkor Wat can be seen. But just to set expectations: the sun does not set behind Angkor Wat.

Wikipedia says this view of Angkor Wat was used in Tomb Raider “when Lara Croft looks through the binoculars upon arriving in Cambodia.” (I really must see that movie.)

Sunsets are by their very nature beautiful, but coupled with the kind of hype with which they sell sunsets at Phnom Bakheng, it becomes underwhelming.

In any case, it was a good way of cooling down, and even striking a conversation with other tourists (a lot!) waiting for the sunset.
